1980's Wards Multi-beat POWERPLUS

Early 80's Montgomery Wards upright made by Eureka. This was Ward's best upright, dripping with all the best features offered by Eureka at the time: 2-speed ESP motor, sliding rug adjuster, Vibra-Groomer II, handle switch, 30 foot cord with quick release, triple filter bag, and headlight. The motor is NOT the Sanitaire motor, rather its the upside-down motor Eureka used here and there in the 80's and early 90's. A friend rescued this from a junque store for me. All it needed was a new brush roller and a good scrubbing. It runs beautifully. Since Wards is long gone, this is a keeper!

Buying a Lindhaus Vacuum Cleaner

!±8± Buying a Lindhaus Vacuum Cleaner

Lindhaus vacuum cleaneris one product you couldn't do without in cleaning your house. In the commercial high-end vacuum cleaner industry, one name stands out - Lindhaus. A much revered family-owned Italian company, Lindhaus has been manufacturing state of the art vacuum cleaner motors for decades. Lindhaus has decided to win over household vacuum cleaners by going into the business in the last two decades.

Gracing the Lindhaus vacuum cleaner lineup are Diamante Electronic 300 and 380 series. These are recent additions in the high quality home vacuum cleaner by Lindhaus. The model 300 and model 380 are different vacuum cleaners in terms of their total weight and cleaning width. The 16-pound model 300 is an upright vacuum type with 12 inches of cleaning width. The model 380 on the other hand has 15 inches of cleaning width and a slightly heavier 17-pound body.

Both the model 300 and model 380 series have identical specifications. They both have an electronically controlled two-motor design which includes the 8.9 amp suction motor and 1.4 amp brush motor. Having two separate motors to drive the suction and brush roller exemplifies their durability. Here you can have the ability to suction and sweep through various surfaces without losing suction power over heavy carpets or losing brushing power when working hard. Both are designed as upright all-terrain vacuum cleaners, which enable you to maneuver and reach areas effectively. Plus, with a cord measuring 35 feet, you can reach every corner of your house.

Being electronically controlled, the Diamante Electronic vacuum cleaner series enables energy efficiency. This is through controlling the stress on the motors, wherein you can regulate the power amount to be applied, using only the necessary power to deal with the job on hand. For instance, you will not always have to suction or brush hard on light surfaces unlike in heavy surfaces. This is one energy-conserving feature that will drop your electric bills after you replace your old vacuum cleaners with these. The 8.9 amp suction motor and 1.4 amp brush motor are powerful enough to provide all out hardcore cleaning.

The Diamante Electronic series has been proven and tested to meet the rigorous demand of home and hospital sanitation. With an impressive array of filtering systems, the series provides active bacteria and allergen trapping mechanisms every time you use the vacuums. You can also literally clean the entire room including the air using the optional HEPA and carbon filters for the vacuums.

Being an all terrain vacuum, the Diamante Electronic series can surprisingly handle carpets, stairs, bare floors, hardwood flooring, drapes, upholstery, and even mattresses. These, along with other special features, make the Diamante Electronic Lindhaus vacuum cleaner series an innovative cleaning gadget you won't want to miss.

What is the Best Vacuum Cleaner?

!±8± What is the Best Vacuum Cleaner?

Many homeowners, landlords, and renters have asked this question: What is the best vacuum cleaner? It is not a surprising question considering that a vacuum cleaner is an important investment in many respects. Your health in terms of a clean environment with very minimal allergens, rodents and pests present may well depend on the choice of vacuum cleaner for your home.

It should also be noted that the best vacuum cleaner for one individual may not necessarily be the best for another. Keep in mind that many factors come into play when choosing the vacuum cleaner of choice including but not limited to the filtration system, brush attachments and other accessories of the unit as well as the budget for it.

With that being said, the following are rated the best by many consumers in a particular category. Again, look at your requirements to the question of what is the best vacuum when determining which category of cleaners you will eventually choose for your household.

Budget Vacuum Cleaners

When we hear the word budget, we may be guilty of thinking that it is of low-quality because it is cheap. In the case of the best budget vacuum cleaner, you are assured that the quality is at par with the most expensive unit in the market but at a considerably lower purchase price.

For many consumers, the best budget vacuum cleaner comes from the Eureka brand specifically the Boss SmartVac 4870MZ. It comes with a sealed HEPA filter for excellent filtration of microscopic allergens as well as pet hair on carpeting. You also have the benefit of other attachments for its bargain price, thus, reinforcing its best rating in the budget category. You may, however, experience problems after 3 years although you will have enjoyed its services by then and consider it a fair trade.

Lightweight Vacuum with Bag

The SmartVac may be good value for its money but it is not on the lightweight side. In this case, the better choice would be the Tempo Widepath U5140-900 from Hoover. Its features may not be as fancy as other models in the line but its lightweight more than makes up for its relative simplicity. Besides, vacuum cleaners are made to clean and clean the Widepath definitely does for its user.

You will also like the allergen filter that comes with the cleaner. Again, it is good for people with allergies to dust, pollen and fleas. On the minus side, the short power cord and the always-on brush roller make for deficiencies that may turn off a few users.

Bagless Vacuum

In this case, it depends on whether you want the basic or the luxury bagless vacuum. The difference in prices can run up to as much as 100 percent over the other type, which means that careful consideration must be poured before making the decision.

If you are going for the basic type, then we recommend the Kenmore Progressive 36932. It works well with many types of attachments, which is essential in using the unit for upholstery, drapes and stairs.

For the luxury bagless type, we recommend the Dyson DC25 All Floors. It may be expensive at 0 but its lightweight, performance levels and five-year warranty more than make up for the cost.

Hoover Model 61 Startup

Got at a resale shop last spring. Went through and refurbished the motor. Brush roll (as you can hear) is still waiting to be lubricated. Also the brush strips need to be redone (removed temporarily from brush roll). Machine has crack on handle and some wiring issues as well as cosmetic issues but is still savable.

!±8± Eureka Vacuum Cleaners

Eureka vacuum cleaners have been around for a long time. Founded by Fred Wardell in 1909 in Southern Michigan, Eureka became an early leader the manufacture of electric vacuum cleaners. Eureka vacuum cleaners continue to be manufactured by its parent company Electrolux to this day. Eureka was made famous for it TV ads touting its line of Boss vacuum cleaner models back in the 1980s, According to Eureka its modern line of vacuums are cleaning homes in more than 40 countries around the world. They continue to use innovation to stay on top of the very competitive vacuum cleaner market. Throughout the world Eureka vacuum cleaners are known for their quality.

The Eureka vacuum cleaner or as it is commonly known name Electrolux are part of a large company that produces a wide range of consumer and commercial appliances. These products include kitchen stoves and refrigerators. Eureka vacuum cleaners are distributed under more than 100 different models that range from uprights to their line of central vacuum cleaner systems. The later system is normally installed during new housing construction. Vacuum sites or inlets are situated through out the house and all the home owner needs to do is carry a length of hose and power head to each room that needs to be cleaned. Dirt, dust, mold, allergens and biologics are all deposited into a central containment unit. Some Eureka vacuum models are designed to have the ability exhaust to the outside thereby removing most allergens from the structure. Eureka vacuum cleaners have the state the art filters including HEPA on most models to keep the air in your home clean and healthy.

Current Eureka vacuum cleaner models have innovative features that include a Telescopic Self-Cleaning duster that use electrostatic charged duster that claims to attract dust from as far away as 3 feet. Another rather unique feature is the Power Paw with a Risor Visor that facilitates clean stairways including the stair risers. Central Vacuum, Whole Home System

!±8± Central Vacuum, Whole Home System

Central Vacuums have been around for years in more expensive homes and in commercial applications. Basically the central vacuum power unit is located away from the areas to be cleaned in a central location hence the name central vacuum. The central vacuum unit is usually located in the basement or garage and occasionally in a separate structure out side the house or building. Aluminum or reinforced plastic ducting is installed throughout the house providing strategically placed inlets in each main room. Installation of a central vacuum system is normally done during new house or building construction. Retrofitting a house or office with a central vacuum is normally cost prohibited. When it comes time to clean a centrally located switch is thrown and the remote unit creates a strong suction. A cleaning unit comprised of a hose, wand and power head is attached to the inlet. Usually there is an electrical outlet adjacent to the inlet providing electricity to the power roller or beater bar in the tool head. Cleaning then done in a similar manner to that of using a canister vacuum. When the room is clean then the process is completed in the next room until the whole house or office is cleaned. Then the central vacuum is turned off until needed again.

A major benefit of the central vacuum is that the unit dust, mold, allergens and pathogens are not reintroduced to the room being cleaned. All vacuumed materials are transported to a central location where they are deposited. Many new central vacuum units exhaust directly to the outside which further removes the airborne contaminants from the building. Units that do not exhaust to the outside are also efficient in removing contaminants through the use of HEPA filters. One disadvantage to installing a central vacuum is comes in the form of duct maintenance. Ducts will need to be cleaned every couple of years depending on the level of use. Normally cleaning done using a brush on a snake that is run down each duct while the system is running. This assures that the suction remains strong throughout the house. In generally central vacuum systems are relatively quiet during operation. This is important if cleaning activities must be done in office spaces during work hours. Most people who have used or own central vacuum units feel they are the best way to clean.

A Review of Popular Vacuum Cleaner Products

!±8± A Review of Popular Vacuum Cleaner Products

There are dozens of vacuum cleaner manufacturers producing hundreds of different types and styles of machines around the world. Cheap, lightweight machines coming out of China and Japan, to the efficient but unwieldy German types and the multi-functional machines coming from American manufacturers, there are a lot of choices on the market today. Determining which brand or which model might be called the best vacuum cleaners in the world depends on what the consumer is looking for.

One of the popular brands is Miele. With over 100 years of experience producing high quality machines, Miele consistently delivers outstanding results. The Miele vacuum is the world's first-ever certified vacuum cleaner due to the unequalled capture and retention of dust particles that their design produces. Their machines provide years of consistent, trouble-free performance even under conditions that would make lesser machines break down.

Known for making a dependable, powerful and yet lightweight line of different vacuum cleaners, Eureka has turned itself into one of the largest manufacturers in the world. Owned since the 1960's by Electrolux, the combined company claims 25% of the market for home appliances around the world.

Hoover, originally an English company, has marketed its name to such a high degree that the word "hoover" has become synonymous with vacuum cleaner much the same way that "Xerox" has become synonymous with copy machines in America. Known for its lightweight and powerful models that housewives have grown to love, their reliability and dependability has become legendary. For a lot of people, Hoover is their vacuum cleaner forever.

Another English company with a well-respected line of vacuum cleaners and a good market share in America, Dyson has been around for a long time. Known lately for "the ball," which is making other manufacturers rethink their design strategies, Dyson is known for pushing the envelope on design features that make life easier for anyone who has to vacuum anything. "The ball" is a rubberized motor cover on an upright vacuum that allows the entire sucking apparatus to turn and pivot with much less effort than other uprights. Pretty soon, if Dyson has their way, you'll be seeing ads for other brands using some altered version of "the ball" on their new models.

A 65-year old company, Rainbow, has the only unique filtration system being used today. Rainbow vacuums use a water canister in the housing to filter the air through, which results in a much higher retention of dust and particulates than with any other filtration system. Combine this unique feature with a reputation for reliability, flexibility and dependability and you have the Rainbow line of vacuum cleaners.

The first Kirby vacuum, incorporating toe-touch control and a belt-driven brush roller, was made available to the public in 1935. Ever since, the Kirby vacuum has had a loyal and dedicated following that swears by its durability and effectiveness.
